The government has launched a new \u20ac25 million project with the aim of protecting breeding waders, which have been described as Ireland’s “most vulnerable” group of birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new European Innovation Partnership (EIP) was launched today (Wednesday, May 22), and is jointly funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project aims to maintain existing wader populations at “key sites”, and to support population recovery through wider landscape management and policy development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
