From different areas across the country, Agriland <\/em>takes a look at the current sheep trade as it stands in some livestock marts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From cull ewes hitting \u20ac300\/head at Ballymote, spring lambs fetching \u20ac235\/head at Roscommon Mart, and heavy hoggets reaching \u20ac215\/head at Blessington Mart, there were lively sales at sheep marts seen across the country this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kilkenny Mart manager, George Candler, said that the recent trade for sheep has been “magic” for the “limited number of sheep<\/strong>” at sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the sheep trade at marts is helped by the presence of factory agents, butchers, and exporters who were very anxious to secure ram lambs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ballymote Livestock Mart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At Aurivo Livestock Mart Ballymote in Co. Sligo, the trade for cull ewes topped at \u20ac300\/head at the weekly sale held on Tuesday, May 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ewes with lambs at foot made from \u20ac240 to \u20ac330 for a ewe with twins at foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
