Garda\u00ed have arrested three men following the discovery of a “large-scale cannabis cultivation operation” at a property in rural Co. Roscommon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of Operation Tara, garda\u00ed attached to the Mayo Roscommon Longford Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search at a property in the Loughglynn area around 3:30p.m yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the search garda\u00ed seized approximately \u20ac700,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All drugs are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three men, aged in their 30s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at garda stations in Roscommon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garda\u00ed say that investigations into the drug seizure are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operation Tara, which was launched in 2021, aims to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, garda\u00ed discovered cannabis grow houses at two residential properties in the New Inn and Creggs areas of rural Co. Galway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cannabis plants worth \u20ac228,000, along with cannabis herb worth \u20ac75,000 were seized during that operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separately, an investigation is underway into the suspected theft of diesel<\/a> from a farm in Co. Cork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garda\u00ed confirmed to Agriland <\/em>they are investigating an incident of a theft from farmland in Boherbue, west Cork in the early hours of Thursday, April 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kilcummin Community Alert social media page stated: \u201cThe vehicle involved in this theft has been seized by Garda\u00ed, but culprits have not been located at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post added that the theft was in the \u201cBoherbue\/Kiskeam area\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They added that those who noticed anything suspicious in the area are being asked to contact Macroom Garda Station on 026 20590.<\/p>\n\n\n
