The Teagasc DairyBeef 500 team, in conjunction with Agriland, is running a live webinar tomorrow, Thursday, October 26.
In calf-to-beef systems, maintaining daily gain targets at all stages of the production system is critical to achieve a profitable system.
One of the areas where daily targets are often not met on calf-to-beef farms is during the first winter housing period.
This online dairy beef event aims to address the two main areas in relation to this:
- Health at housing;
- Feeding and non-feed factors during the winter housing period.

The guest speaker to discuss health at housing will be Cara Sheridan, MSD Animal Health technical vet.
She will cover topics such as vaccinations and parasite control pre- and post-housing.
Alan Dillon, DairyBeef 500 programme manager will then speak about feeding and non-feed factors at housing, covering feeding levels for different quality silages and non-feed factors.
The presentations will be followed by a live panel discussion, chaired by Agriland technical beef reporter, Breifne O’Brien.
The panel comprises:
- Aidan Maguire, DairyBeef 500 programme farmer;
- Cara Sheridan, MSD Animal Health Ireland technical vet;
- Alan Dillon, Teagasc DairyBeef 500 programme manager.
The event will be of great interest to both dairy and beef farmers and kicks off at 8:00p.m tomorrow.
