There is an unsettled week of weather forecast for much of the country this week according to Met Éireann, however a band of high pressure is expected to result in drier conditions.

Starting today Monday (November 2), there will be widespread rain and hail showers with some isolated thunderstorms.

However towards the later part of the week, the rain will die out bringing more settled conditions, if not a bit cooler.

Today’s forecast

Heavy showers will become widespread today with the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

The showers will merge to longer spells of rain at times with highest temperatures of 8° to 11° in moderate to fresh westerly winds, which will be strong on coasts.

Showers or longer spells of rain will continue through tonight, remaining heavy with a continued risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

These showers will affect the western counties the most.

Sunshine and showers tomorrow

Met Éireann has said there will be sunny spells and scattered heavy showers tomorrow (Tuesday, November 3) with the showers less frequent than today but still with the risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

The showers will become mostly confined to the western half of the country during tomorrow evening.

The highest temperatures tomorrow will be 7° to 9° in mostly moderate westerly winds, fresher on coasts and easing towards evening.

Highest temperatures of 9° to 11° in light northwesterly or variable breezes.
