Dowra Mart has announced that it has cancelled all sales over the coming seven days as a precautionary measure “in the best interest of health and safety” of customers and staff.
The mart announced the news earlier today (Thursday, April 22), highlighting that both sheep and cattle sales will be put on hold until Friday, April 30.
In a brief statement on its social media channels, the Co. Cavan mart said:
“Unfortunately we will not be having a sheep or cattle sale this week, April 23 and 24, as a precautionary measure and following HSE guidelines – with the best interest of the health and safety of our customers and staff.
“Sales will resume next Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“In the meantime, stay safe,” the mart’s statement concluded.
This follows the news earlier today that Elphin Mart has closed temporarily with next Monday’s sale also cancelled, due to a mart customer being a close contact of a confirmed Covid-19 case.
The mart’s manager, Gerry Connellan, confirmed this to Agriland, and said that the safety of the mart’s staff and customers was the main priority in the decision to temporarily close the Roscommon-based mart.
